Bourne Initiative for carers – 2021 update
Our Balanced Lives for Carers programme has now been expanded to include the whole of the Lincolnshire area.
Last year we had great success connecting carers with others within the local Bourne area to share their experiences and offer advice.
The Balanced Lives for carers programme is being delivered in conjunction with Carers First and the National Lottery Community Fund. The popular exercise and wellbeing class is now open to all carers in the Lincolnshire area.
Life in lockdown can be especially difficult for carers, but this programme aims to support the unsung heroes of later life: those who look after friends, relatives and loved ones. This is a chance for carers to connect with like-minded people and improve their health & fitness.
“There are key benefits to individuals in our exercise programme, including better posture, easier breathing, reduced stress and improvements in digestion,” – Ray Pawlett, Project Lead
Taking part
The programme takes place online via Zoom until Covid restrictions are lifted and in-person events can resume.
Programme members get together every Friday from 11 am to 1 pm. for an hour of exercise, followed by an hour of social interaction.
If you want to take part contact:
lincsadmin@carersfirst.org.uk or call 0300 303 1555
Who is this for?
The scheme is open to anyone over 50 who are carers.
If you need support to get set up on Zoom, we can help, just let us know how you want to take part.
The Balanced Lives Programme
Balanced Lives Bourne is part of our countrywide Balanced Lives programmes which have shared aims:
- We want to improve social connectiveness by supporting participants to form friendships and take part in activities based around their needs and interests.
- We welcome your ideas on activities and input into all our sessions.
- We aim to improve physical mobility and strength through movements based on Tai Chi.
- Our exercises are fully supported by a wide-ranging series of videos on our YouTube channel, which you can link to on the YouTube icon below.
- Improve mental wellbeing through discussion and shared experience to help reduce stress and anxiety.
