Intergenerational project with a common theme.

The purpose of Care Home Karaoke was to find a common ground between the young and old via Schools and Care Homes. We launched the project in Ebor Court Care Home, York using music as a common theme.

The older people in the care home picked the songs, while young people (students up to year 8) from local Applefields school did the research to find and play the music. And everyone sang along…

Bridging the Generation Gap

Through the project Action For Elders were able to bring the generations together, improve communication skills, overcome age discrimination (for both young and old), but above all, have fun.

Care Home Karaoke is set to become a regular event in York next year and demand is so great that the project is set to be rolled out to other care comes in England and Wales.
