Caroline’s Story
You Can Ring My Bell
It’s always nice to receive a thank you for a good deed, especially when it is from the heart and includes a bottle of good wine.
After providing some support as part of Action For Elders Digital Inclusion programme, our technical expert Adrian Scott received a card, a bottle of wine and also a straw, which was a lovely, humorous touch.
The story began when POBL Social Housing referred a lady called Caroline to Action For Elders for some much needed digital help.
Building Resilience
Caroline lives in between Swansea and Neath. Life had been pretty tough for her recently; with a host of stressful personal issues and emotionally draining life-altering events. It would be the small things that would make all the difference. Adrian offered advice on internet connection and managed to secure half price broadband. He also connected Caroline’s laptop and set up a mobile phone to enable her to speak to the outside world.
Caroline also wanted to feel secure at home and had been given a Ring Doorbell for security and safety reasons; but she just didn’t know how to set it up properly, or fit the bell. Luckily, Adrian was able to help; he came back with his trusty drill and fixed the doorbell to the wall, he also set up the Ring Doorbell app on Caroline’s newly working phone.
Now, not only was Caroline connected up and able to keep in touch with loved ones; she could shop for bargains online, or access Netflix to watch films and TV shows, both old and new. The valuable support had helped her to get her life back on track.
We have made a huge difference to Caroline’s life, but we want to help others too, so your support and donations can be life-changing.
A Heartfelt Message
Adrian received a lovely card with this beautiful heartfelt message.
“Thanks so much for all your support and patience, we’d be lost without you.”
Adrian was completely bowled over by the wonderful message of thanks; it is moments like this that make his job worthwhile. He was equally pleased to receive a nice bottle of wine. His only problem, was to decide whether to use the straw to drink the wine or stick to a boring old glass.
“It’s genuinely a pleasure when you call and a joy every time you come round. Thanks so much,” said Caroline.
