Digital Book Club Launch
Our Pilot Event was a great success.
The pilot for our Digital Book Club took place online via Zoom on Wednesday, 29th July
The books discussed included:
- Persuasion – Jane Austen’s final finished book
- Sebastian Barry’s coming of age novel Days Without End
- Vladimir Arseniev’s memoir of cross-cultural understanding, Dersu The Trapper
- The Way of Qigong by world-renowned health educator Kenneth S Cohen
The DBC format allowed each of our participant presenters to talk about the book they had chosen for two minutes. This was followed by general discussion.
It was a hugely enjoyable and lively event which included some perceptive observations on life, love and literature.
Such was the success of the trial event, that Action for Elders intends to make it a regular, monthly event.
Our next DBC (Digital Book Club) takes place on Wednesday 9th September and from October onwards, we will be running the event regularly on the second Wednesday of every month…
It doesn’t matter which book you choose, highbrow, middle brow or lowbrow, we want to know what it means to you.
We are offering a £10 Book Token to the person who is judged to have given the best description on the day.
Or, follow us on Facebook where we will also include full details.
