It Sets Me Up For The Week

The latest from our Ystradgynlais group.

Our Balanced Lives Gentle Yoga group in Ystradgynlais is going from strength to strength. We are seeing extraordinary results in terms of mental health, fitness and receiving some wonderful feedback.

The secret to the success of our Ystradgynlais group is teamwork. Our Balanced Lives instructor, Janet Anthony, is highly skilled and has a great rapport with all the participants. Equally important is the affinity the group have with each other as they share experiences and improve their health together.

The social aspect is hugely positive for mental health.

This is a friendly group and although the seated exercises are ‘very relaxing’ they are also excellent for building strength & fitness and suitable for all abilities. We can’t put a high enough value on the importance of these sessions in terms of physical benefits and the social aspect; which is hugely positive for mental health.

Action For Elders’ Stephanie Booth was on hand to see the progress and camaraderie of the group in action. She recounts this tale of mental and physical determination:

“One lady was adamant she wanted to stand from her chair. Without any pressure from Janet, she was keen to show the group her journey to better health. It took a few attempts but she eventually got up and was able to stand. The whole class gave her a round of applause. This is typical of the strong bond the group have developed.”

Our Ystradgynlais group is proving week after week that community sessions can make a life-changing difference to those in later life.
