National Poetry Month
Celebrating the Power of the Creative Mind
April is National Poetry Month – an initiative launched to celebrate the importance of poetry, poets and the creative mind. Words can have so much power if used in the right way. This year is the 25th anniversary of the month-long event, which was originally launched by the Academy of American Poets, back in April 1996.
Tell us your favourite poem
In celebration of National Poetry Month we are asking you to take part. Do you have a favourite poem? It might have a very special emotional resonance, maybe it inspired you or got you through lockdown.
Send us a video of yourself reading a favourite poem and we will share it on our Action For Elders site via our social media channels. Who knows, your inspiration, might inspire other people.
Email us your videos
You can email us your videos at: info@actionforelders.co.uk
Show us your creativity
If you are feeling creative, you could try and write an 8-line poem. Try it, you will be surprised what you can achieve. You could either send us your own poem written down, or a video of you actually reading it. We will be sharing your poems throughout the month.
If we have enough entries, we will share them during our live Zoom Book Club on Wednesday 21st April at 3pm
