Summer Social Events 2023
Getting Out There.
Our Balanced Lives Social Hubs in Swansea and Ystradgynlais are continuing through the summer months with an exciting, varied collection of outdoor social events.
We have partnered with Swansea Council and the Waterfront Museum to bring you a wide variety of activities every Monday throughout June and July. Our Balanced Lives Tai Chi exercise events take place in the morning from 11.30am, then at 1pm there will be a different activity every week. We have walks, picnics, music, history events and a special Beach Festival on Swansea Bay Beach in August.
We are also offering a special Digital Q&A session with our resident tech expert Adrian Scott.
Green Fingers
For people with green fingers and those who want to brush up on their gardening skills, we have some gardening sessions, naturally enough in the garden of the National Waterfront Museum. This is a chance to learn more about conservation, enjoy some beautiful flowers and find out the best time to plant those tomatoes and runner beans. With rising prices of food, perhaps the answer is to grow your own vegetables this year?
Something For Everyone
As with all our programmes, we recognise that people need a very wide range of social support, activities and healthy exercise, so this summer there really is something for everyone. Apart from the obvious benefits of fresh air and increased vitamin D; the social aspect of these events is also very important to beat social isolation. So if you know someone who would benefit or would like to join us, please get in touch.
Balanced Lives Ystradgynlais
The Balanced Lives Social Hub in Ystradgynlais also continues though the summer with our popular mix of Balanced Lives Tai Chi exercise events and social activities, plus Gentle Yoga strength building exercises with Janet Anthony.
Balanced Lives York
We have a popular Social Hub in York which includes both online and in-person exercises. There is also a Friday evening Mindfulness Session to help cope with anxiety, pain and illness. Our York Hub is run by Betty Sutherland.
For full details of these and all our forthcoming events, keep an eye on the events section and our social media.
August and September Events
In August, we are planning another Balanced Lives Beach Festival, following on for last year’s amazing sea and sand event. We also have some other surprise activities lined up to give you an August to remember and in September we have special guest speakers, another Digital Q&A with Adrian and more gardening sessions.
What About the Films and Warms Hubs?
These will be back in October – let’s make this the best year ever for the older community!
We can't do it without your help
We offer a big vote of thanks to everyone who attends and supports our events, not only do we need your support, we need your donations too, so to ensure we can continue to enrich the lives of those in later life, donate if you can, either at our events or online (see opposite).
