Swansea Social Walk

Along The Historic Swansea Promenade.

Join us every morning from Tuesday August 22nd for a brand new addition to our Balanced Lives physical and social programmes for the older community.

The Swansea Social Walk runs for 6 weeks, beginning at 10am from The Junction Café, Blackpill. It follows the route of the old Mumbles Railway, which was built as an industrial horse-drawn tramway in 1804 and became the first railway in the world to regularly carry passengers in 1807. The walk finishes at the stylish Bistrot Pierre Swansea, which offers stunning, panoramic views of Swansea Bay.

Walking is good for you

Walking is good for you, recent studies by Harvard Health found that walking boosts the immune system, reduces blood pressure, eases joint pain and lowers the risk of depression.

A Gentle Stroll

The two-mile walk is designed to suit all fitness levels and is taken at a leisurely pace. It should be around 40 minutes, taking in the sights along Swansea Promenade. It will be a fantastic way to stay fit, catch up with new friends and make new ones.

As Walk Leader and Co-ordinator Myles Lewis explains:

“This is a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded people. It’s also a great fun way to exercise without even realising it.”

Tea & Chat

The walk takes you to stylish Bistrot Pierre for another of our popular Tea & Chat sessions. Whether you are a Balanced Lives regular or new participant, you will be warmly welcomed by our coordinators and the local community.

There’s something very special about Action For Elders’ Social Walks, they really cheer you up and set you up for the day. I’m so much fitter and happier after them.

Free Hot Drink & Pastry

After a nice walk there’s nothing better than sitting down for some tasty refreshments in a friendly environment. All walkers will be provided with a free hot drink and pastry to help them refuel after the two mile walk.
