Action For Elders celebrates a decade of change and innovation in attitudes and services for older people with a reception at the Welsh Senedd Cardiff. This year, Action For Elders celebrates its 10th Anniversary, when we will be looking back over our first decade and looking forward to our positive vision of the future of ageing.
Balanced Lives Programmes
Over the past decade we introduced our award-winning Balanced Lives programmes, which started life as simple exercises for fall prevention and developed over time into a complete health and wellbeing package for the older community. Over this time, our ethos has always been to put people first with the aim of adding life to later life.
Programme of events
- Introduction and celebration of Action For Elders eventful first decade. The speakers include Mike Hedges MS, Senedd Constituency Member, Welsh Labour and Co-operative Party, Swansea East and James Lewis, Action For Elders Founder.
- Film montage on Action For Elders through the years. Our story is one of inspiration through the lives of our participants and changing the narrative on ageing from negative to a positive.
- A Fair Deal for Older People. Our Chair, Lorraine Morgan, will be launching the new Council of Elders initiative and our A Fair Deal For Older People campaign (part of the Think Differently About Ageing initiative), calling for better provision for the older community to help deal with cost of living increases and health issues. We are asking for universal access to exercise and digital services via our Balanced Lives health & Wellbeing programmes and our Digital Inclusion programme.
