Time to think differently

Think Differently About Ageing is a campaign to change how UK society and older people themselves look at ageing.

Over the last year, thanks to funding from the People’s Postcode Trust, we’ve worked with members of our Balanced Lives wellbeing groups – all older people – to encourage them to explore and share the positive aspects of growing older.

Whether this is more time to pursue hobbies and interests or focusing on family relationships, one thing stands out: with the benefit of wisdom and experience, later life is a time to be your true self, summed up in these words by Agatha Christie:

“As life goes on it becomes tiring to keep up the character you invented for yourself, and so you relapse into individuality and become more like yourself every day.”

As well as being inspired by our enthusiastic Balanced Lives group members, we’ve also been inspired by bloggers and authors who are campaigning for a more #AgeProud world, including Joyce (Grandma) Williams, whose video is featured on the Think Differently About Ageing page.
