Volunteer to help someone

Ever get the feeling you are so caught up in your own life, that you’ve forgotten what it feels like to help somebody? Maybe you are just so stressed about the mundane things in life you want some time off to feel good about yourself.

What you really need is a complete change of scene, a chance to do something you’ve never done before. The answer could be: forget about your own problems and go somewhere, do something… but what?

You have so much to give, you retain the ability within you to help someone, even change their lives with a few kind words and actions. Maybe volunteering could be the answer…

At Action For Elders we help older people with our Balanced Lives® Programme. We work with GPs who refer older people to take part in our programmes. Balanced Lives® are led by trained Mobility Leads and Social Hosts who help older people with individually targeted exercises and health advice.

Why Volunteering Matters

We are looking for volunteers to help with these programmes, people to be the vital link between these different elements. You could be the glue that binds it all together. It’s a chance for you to just be you – and do what you do best – listen, communicate and change lives with a few simple words and kind actions. You could be that much-needed friend to talk to for an older person, who just needs a bit of encouragement to turn their life around and become part of a community again.

It may not seem like much to you, but it might make a nice change in your life, to help someone change their own life for the better.
